Actor Testifies in Lawsuit Trial for Accutane Side Effects
When someone is allegedly permanently harmed by a prescription medication and then sues the manufacturer of that medication for damages, one common form of financial relief that’s sought is lost income. When that lost income that’s claimed is related to acting, proving that income was lost can be somewhat difficult. That’s why the Accutane lawyers representing actor James Marshall in his Accutane side effects lawsuit have called witnesses on his behalf to testify to how his career would have progressed had he not suffered serious injuries. The latest well-known witness to testify in this case was actor Martin Sheen.
The James Marshall Accutane Injury Trial
Actor James Marshall, 44, was a promising young actor in the 1990’s whose film credits included a starring role in A Few Good Men. At around that time, Marshall began to use Accutane to help him treat symptoms of acne. Unfortunately for him, he developed a serious case of ulcerative colitis, which is one of the Accutane side effects that’s commonly alleged by those who claim to have been harmed by the medication.
As a result of the advanced ulcerative colitis Marshall had, he had his colon removed in 1995. After that surgery, his case makes the argument that his personality changed, that his stamina suffered greatly and that he was unable to act as he had been prior to the illness. He is claiming $11 million in damages.
Renowned Hollywood figure Martin Sheen was the latest celebrity to testify on behalf of Mr. Marshall. Earlier in the trial, actor Brian Dennehy had testified on Mr. Marshall’s behalf. Mr. Sheen testified via video conference that he had known Mr. Marshall since birth due to his friendship with his father and that he had directed Mr. Marshall in several productions. He stated that Mr. Marshall was on his way to becoming a star, but that he looked ‘wasted’ after his colon was removed and that his personality had changed markedly.
